Rab Terry
Venetian Plaster Paintings
September 17th - September 28th, 2008
artist demo: Saturday, September 20th, 4-5 pm
reception to follow, 5-7 pm
San Francisco artist Rab Terry's new series of Venetian plaster paintings are inspired by both nature and modern architecture; he envisions the paintings almost as "furniture or jewelry for the wall." Pieces give you the impression of looking up through a shady grove of trees, or over the surface of a sun-dappled lake. Although the pieces are richly textured and have as many as 20 layers, they have the calmness and serenity that Rab is striving for. If you're curious about Rab's process, don't miss the artist's demo preceding the reception.
Click View Slideshow at the top of the grid of photos to see more information about the specific pieces. About half the work Rab does is by commission, so if you don't see what you're looking for just let us know.
